Ma Yuan is a representative writer of literary "avant-garde" novels in the new era.The pursuit of "technical theory" has promoted the multiple possibilities of narrative and the return of literary aesthetics, which makes his works infinitely close to Western"modernism" and "" Postmodernism".After the ebb of the "pioneer",Ma Yuan returned to the literary world with his novels "The Bull,Ghosts and Snakes" and the realist novels "Entanglement" and "Huang Tang’s Family".The novel has neither the aesthetic meaning of "mysterious fiction" in the avant-garde period, nor the "penetration" of realist literature in the new period. After that,Ma Yuan restored the fusion of fictional narrative and non-fiction writing in the new period with the Hani-themed novels "Payami of Girl Village" and "Peima of Gushenwu".The combination of narrative, fiction, and"form theory" no longer cares about one over the other. The stories of the Hani people in Nannuo Mountain have not become the backdrop for narrative and fiction, but the narrative and form in the novel are still full of tension. The two Hani novels truly reflect the narrative breakthrough of Ma Yuan’s novel transformation. This article summarizes the performance of Ma Yuan’s novel creation transformation and its significance to the modernization process of contemporary literature, and studies the significance of literary writing in the era and the development process of modernity.
