| From November 6,2018 to February 18,2019,the author was commissioned by China Youth Press to translate the book Responsive Teaching.The simplified Chinese version of this book was officially published in October 2019.The report is based on the translation practice of the book.About polysystem theory,many scholars have made a lot of research and brought forward translation theories respectively,and the development and improvement of the theory is also of positive significance to guide translation practice.Among them,Chesterman’s Translation Norm Theory is more comprehensive with greater applicability.The report uses the expectancy norms and professional norms of Chesterman’s Translation Norm Theory to analyze the translation strategies adopted by the author,thus exploring the guiding significance of translation norms theory in educational texts.In this report,the author provides typical cases in the translation practice and adopts corresponding translation strategies and methods to thoroughly analyze the conciseness and clarity of words and sentences in translation and the cohesion and coherence of the discourses’ translation.Conciseness entails the translation to be brief in expression;clarity requires the translation to be clear and definite;cohesion demands the appropriateness of lexical collocation and the correctness of grammar in discourse;coherence asks for the semantic smoothness and the uniformity of style.In this report,examples will be shown to illustrate how these goals are achieved,and the gains and limitations of the translation project will be summarized so as to provide a better guidance for future translation. |
