Wang Fuan’s Seal Script Staging,Classification And Artistic Features

Wang Fu’an is a famous calligrapher and seal carver in modern times.His seal carving inherits the tradition of Zhejiang School,creating a new style;his seal script is based on "Shuo Wen" and "Stone Drums",adopting both "Deng Shiru and Yang Yisun’s" style and features,developing the tradition of yuzhu and tiexian of "Li Si and li Yangbing",stable and elegant,having at the same time the simplicity and strength of the jinwen.Sometimes,he used the style of xiaozhuan to create the spirit of jinwen and combined the dazhuan and xiaozuan to form a beautiful,tender refined and elegant zhuanshu style.Since the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,Kang Youwei continued the theories of Ruan Yuan and Bao Shichen and vigorously advocated the beixue".In addition,Deng Shiru,Wu Rangzhi,Zhao Zhiqian and others have produced new results in the exploration of zhuanshu and lishu.Copying zhuanshu and creating became the fashion of the time,and Wang Fuan was a master who just grew up in the atmosphere of this era.In particular,Wang Fuan’s family has a profound cultivation of Jinshi calligraphy and painting.Their childhood inheritance,good family learning and Jinshi collection provides Wang Fuan with a very good learning atmosphere.This article collects a large number of Wang Fuan’s seal script works,and classifies them by stages,and then summarizes the artistic characteristics of his seal scripts and later influences.In addition,based on the research of the predecessors,Wang Fuan’s family history and biographical materials have been enriched.Finally,combined with personal calligraphy practice experience,create Wang Fuan’s seal script style works and present the process,hoping the research of Wang Fuan’s zhuanshu in this paper and my personal practice in calligraphy can provide readers with some valuable reference and experience.
