| Chi Zijian entered the literary world in 1983 on the wave of "cultural roots" thinking.In her nearly forty years of creative career,her hometown has always been the root of Chi’s literary life.As a contemporary female writer,Chi Zijian does not stick to her identity as a woman,but develops her vernacular literary creation in a broader dimension.Her works not only contribute to the enhancement of the aesthetic character of contemporary borderland vernacular writing,but also add a Chinese touch to the globalization of Chinese vernacular fiction.Always rooted in the folklore of the countryside,she actively responds to the important task given to writers by the times amidst the rapidly changing tides,constructing a quaint and spiritual world of the countryside in her works,and ultimately leaving a unique mark on the literary world with the many rustic landscapes that contain the original culture of mankind.This essay focuses on the following aspects of the writer’s thinking about the construction of the vernacular world.firstly,why does the writer construct the vernacular world? Secondly,what kind of local world does the writer’s writing present?Thirdly,what kind of narrative art does the writer use to construct the vernacular world? Finally,what is the meaning of the writer’s construction of the vernacular world? According to this logical sequence,the thesis is divided into five parts to discuss the whole picture of Chi Zijian’s vernacular world.The introductory part of the first chapter of the dissertation summarizes the current status of research on Chi Zijian’s novels,sorting out the major fields involved in the study of Chi Zijian’s novels.It also clarifies the research method,the basis of the topic and the significance of the study.The second chapter of the dissertation focuses on the writer’s life experiences,foreign culture and her personal sense of humanistic concern to trace the causes of the writer’s interest in the vernacular world.The third chapter of the dissertation is the answer to the question of what kind of countryside world Chi Zijian writes about.In this paper,we will try to discuss the writer’s writing about the villagers,nature and folklore.Firstly,the three types of characters,namely teenagers,women and "dumb people",are used to depict the simple and tough villagers in her works;secondly,the "humanization" and "deification" of nature in the writer’s writing are analyzed.Finally,the writer’s profound portrayal of the folklore of the countryside connects the daily lives of the people of the countryside.Finally,the ancient and spiritual poetic world-like state of Chi Zijian’s writing is truly restored.The fourth chapter of the thesis analyzes how the writer constructs the vernacular world from the perspective of narratology.It discusses the writer’s way of expression,her flexible use of narrative structure,and the creation of mysterious space.Chapter 5 of the dissertation focuses on the value of writing about the vernacular in Chi’s works from three perspectives: the writer’s personal significance,literary historical significance and cultural significance. |
