A Study Of "Enjoying Antiques"

"Enjoying Antiques" is a painting by Ming Dynasty painter Du Jin for Jian Mian,integrating portraits and Yaji elements.By studying portrait factors such as clothing,sitting posture,environment and objects,this paper believes that they highlight Jian Mian’s dual identity as a ’literati’ and an ’official’.Combined with the background of the times and the investigation of the elegant gathering activity of ’playing with antiquity’,this paper concludes that the author expresses nostalgic feelings and lofty character of Jian Mian.Combining both the portrait and Yaji factors,the author of "Enjoying Antiques" has successfully shaped Jian Mian into an ideal literati image with noble moral sentiments.
