| Globalization fuels localization.In addition,China’s enabling manufacture and business environment drive Chinese brands to the world.For transnational operation,language problem must be addressed.Therefore,product localization is needed.The quality management of localization projects includes multilingual project management,product interface re-architecture and localization testing,among which review is a significant part.Meanwhile,the localization of user manuals is more typical for increased product acceptability.Therefore,it is a must to bolster the quality management of user manual localization projects.From July 1,2021 to August 30,2021,the author performed an internship as a reviser at Z company,and participated in several localization projects,being responsible for localization solution proposal and project management improvement.Taking the user manual localization project of a kitchen appliance as an example,the thesis introduces the quality management process based on literature and internship,analyzes problems,and gives corresponding suggestions in pre-project,mid-project and post-project,in order to put forward the localization principle of the user manual.The author concluded:First,efficient communication and collaboration mechanisms are necessary for quality management.The revisers should formulate their own rules based on project requirements,style guides and text characteristics,and clarify the responsibilities of translators and revisers.Second,localization projects have higher requirements on the competences of localization personnel,namely,cognitive ability,language ability,tool ability and communication ability.Third,the localization industry needs to be improved.It must develop standard methods and procedures,make good use of modern tools such as project management platform,cultivate localization talents to promote the long-term and stable development of the localization industry. |
