| Globalization sees the ever-deepening exchanges in culture and economy among countries.While we Chinese are using more and more foreign softwares,foreigners are also starting to use the ones invented in China.On the back of it,there is a strong demand for the localization of the softwares to help people use them more conveniently and enable the companies to grab more market share.In this way,localization is of great importance.As an online learning software invented by Chinese company,CCtalk is not only used by Chinese users,but also foreign users,especially American and English users.So far,the English version of CCtalk has been put into use and gets positive feedback.Based on the localization project of CCtalk,the thesis describes the phrases before,during and after translation,it also introduces teamwork tools,QA of the project and language features.A number of differences are found between localization and traditional translation.In addition to the fact that both of them include the transformation of different languages,localization is different from traditional translation in the use of computer aided softwares,the format of the documents,the extra developing and testing part and the time length of the project.As an emerging branch of language service,localization may drive the development of the whole industry.The thesis aims at explaining the solutions of the difficulties and summarizing the experience during the project so as to provide reference for the similar localization projects and translation. |
