| Tcherepnin,formerly known as Alexander Nikolaevich Tcherepnin,is a composer who has made great contributions to the development of Chinese music.He never stopped writing in all his life,and created a large number of music works with rich genres and various styles.Tcherepnin came to China in 1930 s,and China’s unique local customs,rich music culture and charming folk music has provided many materials for his creation.From 1934 to 1937,using nationalized harmonic techniques,he has created four piano etudes: "Piano Study on Pentatonic Scale","Piano Etude of Pentatonic Scale"(Op.51),"Five Concert Etudes"(Op.52)and "Skills Exercise of Pentatonic Scale"(Op.53).They all convey the spirit and concept of "Western style Chinese use" and "mutual learning among civilizations",which is of great value for research and learning.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the significance of the topic selection,the research status both at home and abroad,the innovation and prospect of the research.The second chapter expounds the lifetime of Tcherepnin,the connotation of "Chinese style",the general situation and mutual relations of the four Chinese style piano etudes.The third chapter is divided into three aspects: harmonic materials,harmonic progress and mode tonality,respectively exploring the stylization,individuation and nationalization in the harmonic techniques of Tcherepnin’s Chinese style piano etudes.The fourth chapter will analyze the art features of Tcherepnin’s "Chinese Style" piano etudes from two aspects: the inheritance and innovation of musical structure,and the reference and integration of national art.This paper takes "Piano Study on Pentatonic Scale" published by Shanghai Commercial Press in May 1935,"Piano Etudes of Pentatonic Scale" published by Heugel Publishing House in France in 1935,"Five Concert Etudes" reprinted by Schott Publishing House in Germany in 1999 and "Skills Practice of Pentatonic Scale" published by Peters Publishing House in Germany in 1936 as research foundation.It makes an in-depth study on the harmonic techniques,summarizes the art features in detail,and explores the ideas combing of Chinese and Western contained in Tcherepnin’s Chinese style piano etudes. |
