A Study On The Development Of Broadway Music In The 20th Century

Musical theater is a stage art form integrating music,drama and dance.It originated in Britain and the United States in the 19 th century and began to flourish in the 20 th century.At present,there are two major musical camps in the world,one is the West End of London,the other is the United States Broadway.Although the art of musical was born in the United Kingdom and the United States at the same historical period,the development of Broadway musical in the later period was much faster than that of the West End of London,and the influence was also greater than that of the United Kingdom.Relative to Britain,the United States is relatively young,but it is far ahead in most aspects of development.Since the 20 th century,Broadway musical is like the "fast food" in culture,showing itself to the world in a popular and elegant way,and growing into a global cultural industry,which makes all countries offer olive branches to Broadway one after another,in order to get on this unique charming art fast ship.The reason why Broadway musical is so successful is that it has been born for more than a century and has formed its own set of perfect system,and the value contained behind this perfect system is what the author wants to study.Therefore,the topic of this paper focuses on the historical development of "Broadway musicals in the 20 th century".This paper consists of six parts: the first part is the introduction,the second to fifth part is the main body of the paper,and the sixth part is the conclusion.The first part of the introduction,the Broadway musical research summary and significance demonstration;The second part discusses the characteristics of the early stage of Broadway from the formation and localization of Broadway musicals.The third part,from the point of view of Broadway’s fame in the world,analyzes the development law of Broadway theater’s integration,and the process of its creators pushing the musical to glory.In the fourth part,the problems of Broadway are studied,and the obstacles to Broadway’s progress and a series of rescue measures are sorted out.The fifth part explores and summarizes the spread and enlightenment of Broadway,looking for the rule and value meaning of Broadway.The sixth part is the conclusion,summarizing the article and putting forward their own views.
