| The book,A two-dimensional Perspective on Translation from the Aspect of Psychology: Cognition and Aesthetics, based on cognitive psychology, aesthetic psychology and cultural psychology factors, conducts in-depth research on translating psychology. The translator chose Chapter Ten of the book as the source text of this translation practice, which mainly tells that the origin of mistranslation is the difference between Chinese and Western psychological cultures. The source text is an informative text which discusses the related concepts of translating psychology from both cognitive and aesthetic aspects with objective content and rigorous structure.Guided by Newmark’s text typology theory, the translator uses communicative translation and semantic translation to carry out the translation practice, discussing the translation strategies and methods of psychological texts from the aspects of vocabulary and sentence. The vocabulary is divided into terms,culture-loaded words,four-character structure words and polysemy. The translator digs into the connotation of Chinese characters and studies the translation methods such as literal translation, substitution, explanation, transliteration, annotation and others through specific cases to make the translated text conform to the expression habits of the target language as much as possible. The sentence is divided into passive sentences,non-subject sentences and run-on sentences.Based on the understanding of the context, the translator uses translation methods such as conversion of sentence patterns, adding subjects and restructuring sentences to perform the case studies,so that the translated version can effectively convey the communicative intention of the source text.Under the guidance of Newmark’s translation theory, the translator discusses the translation skills of psychology texts, holding that translators no longer just pursue translation methods which are suitable for texts, but fully consider the reader’s feeling and text category,so as to achieve better communicative purposes. |
