Recent years witness the rapid growth of science and technology,which profoundly changes the way people live and produce.With the targets set during the13 th five-year plan and the Third World Internet Conference successfully convened,the Internet has emerged as one of the most dynamic field in the 21 stcentury,whose positive integration of development and innovation will boost China's economy and yield tangible benefits to human society.The topic of translation material,modern web development,involves professional computer technology.Hence,as far as the author judges,it can be classified into popular science reading.Based on the translation experience in popular science,the author tries,in the form of report,to analyze features of popular science text,illuminate the translation theory and skills,as well as gains from the translation.The body part of the report is divided into five chapters.Chapter one refers to introduction,narrating reasons for selecting the source text,research backgrounds and meanings,project description and report's structure.Chapter two mainly illustrates translation process,including preparation and plan,understanding and analysis,expressiveness and correction.Chapter three briefly introduces popular science text and Peter Newmark's translation theory.Chapter four,which serves as the core of the report,conducts the case study from the lexical and syntactic perspectives by giving specific examples,and then analyzes the translation skills under the guidance of Peter Newmark's theory.Chapter five makes a conclusion for the translation report and summarizes some experience,showing limitations and expected improvements.The author puts the theory into practice and realizes the significance of the popular science translation,which in turns will contribute to the author's translation career.
