The theory of imitation is the creation theory that art mainly follows from Ancient Greece to the Baroque period(to the middle of the 18 th century). From the perspective of history,it studies the mimesis of reality of music with abstract notes as material materials,so as to explore the aesthetic problems hidden in it,and then interpret the development of music history from a new Angle. This paper mainly studies it from three aspects: First of all, this paper discusses the philosophical basis of the theory of mimicry, starting from two parts: the rational dominance in the stage of ontological philosophy and the shift from aesthetic experience to aesthetic experience. It holds that the former is the basis for the development of the theory of musical mimicry, while the latter, due to the different pursuit of "beauty" in different periods, affects the choice of the object of imitation to a certain extent. Therefore,"rationality" and "beauty" are the basic premises for imitators and imitators to produce imitative behaviors.Secondly, the paper combs and studies the development of music imitation theory from ancient Greece to Baroque period, divides the development history of music imitation theory into four periods, namely Ancient Greece,Middle Ages,Renaissance and Baroque period, puts music on the social culture, discusses typical specific concepts and musical forms, and highlights its aesthetic problems from the perspective of longitudinal time. Finally, the paper explores the aesthetic problems implicit in the history of music imitation theory from a horizontal perspective, and studies the dependence degree of music and the world, what is the difference and why the difference is generated and where it is embodied in the relationship between reality, nature and truth respectively.Through the above three aspects of discussion, the development of the theory of music imitation and its aesthetic problems are more deeply understood, and in the process of research,it is found that from the perspective of the theory of music imitation can interpret the trend of music’s transformation from the temperament to the self-discipline.At the same time, this development is accompanied by the deep reason why the relationship between music and literature and why music and emotion show a stylized relationship.
