Reflections On Big Data Technology From Marcuse’s Critical Thought Of Technological Rationality

With the rapid development of western science and technology,great changes have taken place in people’s production level and life style.The improvement of science and technology has improved production efficiency and people’s working environment and living standards,but people immersed in material satisfaction have not been truly free and happy.Science and technology in the developed industrial society has long been alienated into a tool for rulers to manage and enslave people.Therefore,Marcuse put forward the critical thought of technological rationality on the alienation of science and technology in the developed industrial society,and profoundly revealed the integration phenomenon of political,economic and cultural fields under the dominance of technological rationality.Under the restriction of technical rationality,the developed industrial society has become a one-dimensional society lacking strong opposition,and the people living in this society have become one-dimensional people lacking negative and critical thoughts.Nowadays,due to the booming development of the network and the rapid popularization of intelligent mobile devices,people have stepped into the era of big data.Various behaviors of people using intelligent mobile devices in daily life will generate massive data resources.Big data is endowed with oil-like value in this era.The mining and analysis of big data can not only explore the potential connections between different things,but also predict the development trend of things in the future.The powerful ability of big data technology has been widely used in various fields of society,providing convenient services for people’s production and life.However,when people worship big data technology as an advanced science and technology,the negative impact of big data technology on people and society is gradually revealed.This paper holds that Marcuse’s critical thought of technical rationality has some significance to reflect on the negative impact of big data technology.Firstly,this paper expounds Marcuse’s critical thought of technological rationality and relevant theories of big data technology,analyzes the Angle of Marcuse’s critique of technological rationality and the social impact brought by big data technology.Then it analyzes the existing problems of big data technology from the critical thought of technological rationality,and indicates the crisis of big data technology on human subjectivity and its influence on society under the alienation of technological rationality.On the basis of analyzing the problems arising from big data technology,it is found that the causes of the problems are the ideological transformation of technological rationality under the logic of capital and the weakening of critical thinking by big data technology under the alienation of technological rationality.Finally,through the humanistic thought contained in Marcuse’s criticism of technological rationality,the author proposes the following enlightenments to the problems existing in big data technology,establishes the correct values of science and technology,reshaps the orientation of people’s critical thinking,promotes the close integration of technological rationality and value rationality,and strengthens the humanistic research on big data technology.
