| Learning engagement is one of the key factors in effective learning,and family factors play an important role in students’ learning engagement.Studies have shown that parents’ autonomous support for their children affects their level of academic engagement,but its effects vary from person to person and are influenced by other factors.This study will focus on the influence of parents’ independent support on junior middle school students’ learning engagement,and explore the internal mechanism of future self-continuity and self-control between parents’ independent support and secondary school students’ studying engagement.In this study,560 students from Grade one to grade three of a public middle school in Wuhan,Hubei Province were investigated by using the Learning Engagement Scale,the Parent Autonomy Support Scale,the future self-continuity Scale and the Self-control scale.SPSS 23.0 and Process v4.0 were used for statistical analysis of the collected data,and the following results were obtained:(1)There are critical dissimilarities in studying engagement among secondary school students in terms of gender,grade,place of origin,whether they are class cadres,whether they are only children,and mother’s educational level;There are material contrasts in parents’ independent support among middle school students in terms of grade,class cadre,and mother’s education level;There are vital dissimilarities in the future self-continuity of middle school students in terms of gender,grade,place of origin,and whether they are only children;There are vitals dissimilarities in self-control among secondary school learners in grade.(2)There is a vital positive correlation between junior middle school students’ learning engagement,parents’ independent support,future self-continuity and self-control.(3)Parents’ independent support for middle school students can momentously beneficially predict the degree of learning engagement.(4)Future self-continuity plays a partial mediating role between parental autonomy support and learning engagement in middle school students.(5)Self-control plays a partial mediating role between parental autonomy support and learning engagement in middle school students.(6)Future self-continuity and self-control play a chain mediating role between parents’ independent support and learning engagement in secondary school students.In conclusion,this study believes that the role of the main body of the home education court-parents,the main body of school education-teachers,supplemented by social forces,can form the trinity of the education force of the home,school and community,improve the independent support level of junior middle school students’ parents,give play to their future self-continuity level and self-control level,and thus improve the level of junior middle school students’ learning involvement. |
