Depression is one of the most common mental health problems among college students. In view of the high harmfulness and prevalence of depression, researchers have conducted a lot of research on the protective factors and related mechanisms of depression,so as to prevent and intervene against depression. This study studied the influencing factors and mechanism of depression in college students from the perspectives of perceived stress, psychological flexibility and cognitive emotion regulation, providing theoretical research basis and empirical research basis for the prevention and intervention of depression in college students. This study includes two substudies: Study one on the effect of perceived stress on depression: the chain mediating role of psychological flexibility and cognitive emotion regulation. In the first study,451 college students were studied by using the Perceived Stress Scale,Acceptance and Action Questionnaire,Cognitive Fusion Questionnaire,Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and Depression Scale to explore whether perceived stress has an impact on depression through psychological flexibility and cognitive emotion regulation, that is,whether psychological flexibility and cognitive emotion regulation play a chain mediating role between perceived stress and depression. The second study is an intervention study on depression of college students based on ACT therapy.Study 2 explored whether group counseling based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT)can improve the psychological flexibility of college students and thus reduce the level of depression. The study draws the following conclusions:(1)Perceived stress was positively correlated with non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and depression, but negatively correlated with psychological flexibility and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation.Psychological flexibility was negatively correlated with adaptive,non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and depression.Adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and depression has a significant negative correlation, and non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and depression has a significant positive correlation.(2)Perceived stress positively predicted non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and depression, and negatively predicted psychological flexibility and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation.Psychological flexibility negatively predicted adaptive,non-adaptive cognitive emotional regulation, depression;Adaptive cognitive emotion regulation negatively predicted depression and non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation positively predicted depression.(3)Psychological flexibility plays a partially mediating role between perceived stress and depression;Cognitive emotion regulation plays a partially mediating role between perceived stress and depression in college students.Psychological flexibility and cognitive emotion regulation play a chain mediating role between perceived stress and depression.(4)Group counseling program based on ACT can effectively improve the psychological flexibility of college students. After 8 weeks of group counseling intervention, there were significant differences between the scores of psychological flexibility and those before intervention. With the improvement of psychological flexibility, depression symptoms decreased, and depression scores after intervention were significantly different from those before intervention.
