Infographics can utilize the human visual perception ability to present data and knowledge in graphical form,achieving efficient information dissemination and knowledge dissemination.As children have a high sensitivity to graphical cognition and enjoy acquiring relevant information through visual channels,infographics can become an effective tool for children’s cognitive learning and skills development.Innovative forms of expression are crucial in the current field of popular science education for children,and providing new forms and means of infographics for popular science education for children has certain research and practical value.This article focuses on the design of an infographics interaction system for children’s popular science education,exploring the relevant research between children’s popular science education and infographics,and ultimately conducting design practice with the Winter Olympics and related winter sports as the theme.The specific work is as follows:Survey on children’s infographics design:Analyzing children’s textbooks and extracurricular reading materials using open coding and other qualitative research methods,obtaining the visual presentation characteristics of children’s infographics and three different levels of abstract element infographics.Study on the impact of visual elements on evaluation of infographics:This part of the research mainly focuses on the three different levels of abstract element infographics.Introducing three dimensions of infographics evaluation:appeal,comprehensibility,and retention,and inviting children users to participate in the evaluation work to study the influence of element abstraction level on these three evaluation dimensions.Summarizing the evaluation results to guide design practice.Design practice of an infographics interaction system for children’s science education:Based on the conclusions of the theoretical research part,this work mainly selects the Winter Olympics and related winter sports as the theme of popular science education content and carries out the design practice of the "Ice and Snow Ski" children’s winter sports science popularization education platform.The effectiveness of the design practice is validated through user evaluation.Starting from the research and exploration of children’s infographics cognition and design,this article studied the impact of visual elements on evaluation of infographics,conducted design practice of an infographics interaction system for children’s science education,and validated its effectiveness through user evaluation,providing some research basis and experience for the future fields of children’s popular science education and infographics.
