| This translation practice text is from Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 of Dr.Yan’s doctoral dissertation,Assessment of Thinking Skills in Relation to Reading and Writing in English among Malaysian University Students.The report analyzes the difficulties encountered by the author in the translation process and the corresponding solutions based on the framework of“Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation(CEA)” proposed by Li Changshuan in Meaning and Expression: Annotated Texts in Chinese-English Translation.The report makes a detailed analysis and a comprehensive summary of the translation practice,which mainly includes five chapters.Chapter 1 is a description of the translation task including the source of the task,the content of the source text and the purpose as well as the significance of the translation.Chapter 2 elaborates the process description,including pre-translation,translation and post-translation.Chapter 3 is the elaboration of the framework of CEA.Chapter 4 is case analysis,in which the author analyses the difficulties encountered in the translation process from three dimensions: comprehension,expression and adaptation,and puts forward corresponding solutions.In terms of Comprehension,the author expresses her confusion and solutions at the lexical,syntactic levels and textual level;in the Expression phase,the author elaborates on three aspects: ensuring coherence,using words concisely and avoiding Europeanized Chinese;as for Adaptation,the author makes an analysis from two parts: omission and addition.Chapter 5 is the conclusion,including a brief summary of the report and the author’s translation vision for the future.Through this translation practice,the author accumulates valuable experience for the translation of educational texts.In addition,the translation can also facilitate domestic scholars to study critical thinking skills. |
