This article is a translation master’s thesis written in the form of a translation practice report.The translation materials are selected from the research report of the West Virginia University research team on the project "Prediction of Fault Reactivation in Hydra ulic Fracturing of Horizontal Wells in Shale Gas Reservoirs,Task 09122-06" translated by the author during the internship.The selected section focuses on the example of the Marcellus Shale in the northeastern United States to explore the specific effects of hydraulic fracturing in order to develop more effective stimulation and treatment plans.This translation practice report is a summary and reflection on my own translation practice.This translation practice report is guided by the framework of "Comprehension;Expression;Adaption" proposed by Li Changshuan and Shi Xiaojing,and illustrates how to find and solve the problems of understanding,expression,and adaptability in translation in the form of case analysis,so as to show the author’s translation process and understanding of Thinking and solving related problems.In terms of comprehension,the translator reads a large number of parallel corpora,inquires about relevant terms,and asks professionals for advice,and always upholds theattitude of fully and accurately understanding the original text;in terms of expression,the author focuses on three aspects:terminology accuracy,sentence structure,and discourse cohesion.Carry out analysis and think that the translator should accurately express the meaning that the author wants to express or hopes to express,so as to faithfully convey it to the target language readers;In terms of adaptation,the author mainly analyzes from two aspects of English and Chinese language habits and context,and makes appropriate selections and adjustments to cases.The author believes that translators should choose appropriate methods and make necessary trade-offs according to the purpose of translation and the differences between English and Chinese languages.The translation methods such as vocabulary and sentence patterns summarized by the author when translating this report can provide some references for translators engaged in hydraulic fracturing-related translation work and those interested in oil and gas development. |
