A Report On The C-E Translation Of International Medical Conference From The Perspective Of Translation Shift Theory

The Belt and Road Initiative has emphasized the importance of medical health exchanges with foreign countries.In addition to the globalization of medical health,there is an increasing demand for medical report translation.At present,a large number of scientific and technological literature around the world is written in English,so in order to understand and learn the foreign advanced technology,and participate in international academic conferences or other international academic exchanges,more medical English translators are called for.From the perspective of subject classification,medical English belongs to English for science and technology(EST),which is characterized by rigorous structure,strict logic,precise wording and various terms.It has developed into a branch subject with clear research object and translation category.Therefore,on the one hand,medical translators need to master basic translation theories and skills;on the other hand,they must have certain medical knowledge and understand the basic characteristics of medical English.The translation practice report is based on the medical conferences in Cogonline,which is divided into four parts: first,the description of translation project.It explains the translation project,the characteristics of original text and the purpose of this translation practice.Second,the description of translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation plan,translation process and post-translation.Third,case analysis based on the translation shifts.The report analyzes the guiding role of Catford’s translation shift theory in the C-E translation of international medical conference reports and its translation skills from the perspective of level shifts and category shifts,and discussed the applicability of his theory to the translation of international medical conferences.Fourth,the conclusion summarizes the experience and practical significance of this translation practice under the guidance of translation shifts.Guided by Catford’s translation shifts theory,this report analyzes and discusses its application in the translation of medical conferences.According to the characteristics of medical texts,this report analyzes the translation methods of English and Chinese,and summarizes the translation skills suitable for medical reports.The purpose is to summarize the translation experience of international medical conference reports,provide inspiration for other medical translators and jointly improve the quality and efficiency of medical academic exchanges.
