Chinese taste words are a relatively unique class of Chinese vocabulary,which reflects Chinese food culture and Chinese people’s way of thinking.From the perspective of synaesthesia metaphor,the research on Chinese taste words and the teaching of metaphorical meanings of taste words in the international Chinese language education still has a lot to be expanded.Based on the theory of synaesthesia metaphor,this paper classifies and sorts out the metaphorical corpus in Chinese taste words and conducts teaching design and practice.The research first adopts HSK dynamic composition corpus,CCL corpus and BCC corpus to collect data to analyze the synaesthesia metaphors in taste words.Then,the author uses the opportunity of teaching practice in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology to design the teaching of Chinese taste words from the perspective of synaesthesia metaphor,according to the classroom teaching objects and Chinese teaching environment,and put the teaching design into practice.Combined with classroom performance as well as interviews and tests,the overall evaluation of the teaching design is made.Finally,a comparative test is conducted in two classes,and spssau is used to analyze and compare the test results.The research shows that using the synaesthetic metaphor theory to teach Chinese taste words,students can more easily understand the meaning of new words.From the aspects of teaching design,teaching process and teaching results,the use of synaesthesia metaphor teaching,combining abstract concepts with pictures,allows students to establish image schemata in their minds,which is beneficial for students to better grasp and master the abstract meaning of taste words.This paper will supplement the research on synaesthesia metaphors from the perspective of the international Chinese language education,and at the same time provide new ideas for the teaching of taste words to international students.
