With the growing of globalization,countries around the world are getting closer.With the active promotion of the United Nations,education circles around the world have widely implemented curriculum reform to cultivate “global citizenship” with an international vision and the ability to cooperate with other countries.Entering the new era,China has been advocating the concepts,such as the building of a“community of shared future for mankind”.China continues to deepen opening-up and its ties with the world are getting closer.For building consistent with national conditions,but also has an international perspective foreign language education system,the Ministry of Education has developed the High School Foreign Languages Curriculum Standards(2017),so as to cultivate foreign language literacy in multicultural backgrounds and better adapt to the development and change of the world as socialist builders and successors.Although our foreign language courses’ growth continued,many problems still exist,which require us to reflect on the foreign language curriculum and teaching.To cultivate “the global citizenship with21 st century skills and global competitiveness”,the American English(American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages,ACTFL)revised and published he latest language learning standards-World-Readiness Standards for Learning Language.Although there are some differences between American Learning Standards and Chinese Curriculum Standards in terms of language setting,curriculum objective setting,implementation and evaluation of standards,there are also many commonalities between American standards and Chinese standards,which are of rich reference significance for us to study foreign language curriculum standards.Based on Taylor Principle,Intercultural Communication Theory,Cognitive-development Theory and Language Acquisition,by using literature method,comparative method and case analysis method,and from the perspective of world citizen,this paper studies the concept and goal,curriculum content and implementation of American World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages,and summarize its experience and put forward some enlightenment for the development of foreign language curriculum in China.Conclusions are as follows:Experience:(1)About the statement of philosophy and the goals: Both of them are based on the overall characteristics of foreign language learning and have a global perspective;They both emphasize the integrity,systematicness and cohesion of language learning;They both emphasize the cultural characteristics,practicality and communicative functions of language.(2)The course contents are very abundant,and pay attention to the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge.(3)About the implementation and evaluation: The choice of methods and approaches is consistent with the concept and goal;The language variety is plentiful and diverse;The language courses planning is according to the holistic and phased characteristics of learning;The development of evaluation criteria is scientific.Enlightenment: the paper proposes the following development directions for our country’s foreign language courses: First,at the development of national foreign language curriculum standards,it puts forward some suggestions,such as drawing lessons from the experience of the United States,constructing a complete general standard of foreign language curriculum in the development of foreign language curriculum standards,emphasizing the practical role of philosophy,and leading the overall development of foreign language curriculum.Second,in the implementation level of the standard,it is suggested that students with different development needs should be provided with the choice of multilingual courses to promote the development of students in today’s diversified society.
