The Sound Implications In Landscape Paintings

Art works have synaesthesia and the value of synaesthesia can not be ignored or underestimated.Su Shi once evaluated Wang Wei’s poetry and painting as "painting in poetry,poetry in painting".Qi Baishi once said that Li Kuchan’s painting Mountain Torrent was excellent,but did not draw the sound of torrent.In fact,synaesthesia can make the viewers perceive the sound language in the silent contexts of paintings.This is what many painters and creators at all times and all over the world strive to pursue as well.Chinese landscape paintings are particularly typical in this aspect,such as The Picture of Listening to the Waterfall,The Picture of Stepping on Songs,The Picture of Asking Questions in Autumn Mountains and many other famous works.They blend the sound of auditory art into the painting of visual art in a highly harmonious way,with flowing meanings and great interest.This paper aims to find the meanings of sounds in landscape paintings through synaesthesia by taking sounds as a starting point.From the "sounds inside the pictures" that can be directly experienced in the pictures to the "sounds outside the pictures" that can be indirectly perceived,this paper sums up the characteristics of "images","persistence","narrations" and "symbols" embodied in the sound implications in landscape paintings,as well as the functions of "clearing mind","self-cultivation" and "smooth spirit".Through the embodiment of sound implications in landscape paintings,we can understand the conception skills,expression methods,ideological connotations and implication realms of landscape paintings,so as to guide the creation of landscape paintings,strive to make the creation more vivid and meaningful and achieve the goal of expressing its images,reaching its realms and realize its way of painting.The research of this subject is not only beneficial to the creators of paintings to break the shackles of visual space of painting,expand thinking,improve innovation ability and create more vivid and novel works of art but also helpful for the appreciators to improve their ability of appreciating works of art through synaesthesia.
