Analysis Of Jin Ashan Shell Carving Technology And Artistic Style

Dalian is a coastal city with maritime civilization,which is rarely known as Chinese "cradle of shell carving technology".The use of shells and shell carving technology have a long history and high reputation.It is the leader of the shell carving industry in China.Among them,the “Zhenbei Art” series of Beidiao works,developed by Dalian Jin Ashan Art Museum in recent years,has broken the shackles of the original shell carving painting technique.It is also the main work displayed in large domestic and foreign cultural fairs and exhibitions,which got praise and favor from national leaders and national media.With the pasting of time,Dalian Beidiao carving technology has also constantly developed and absorbed other art forms for creation,such as: the integration and innovation of artistic characteristics and skills such as painting,Thangka,sculpture,and lacquer art.Taking the three-dimensional shell carving works of shell carving artist Jin Ashan as well as the subsequent Thangka and other shell carving works as representatives,These works are a good combination of the historical production techniques and the new "Zhenbei Art" new concept,so that the shell carving process has entered a new stage.The author interviewed Jin Ashan himself through the introduction of her supervisor.Combined with her own love and concern for shell carving,she brought the research of this topic a sufficient foundation,and hoped to comb through the research on the shell carving technology of Jin Ashan to summarize its impact on the contemporary shell carving technology And the efforts made for the revival of shell carving technology,and to think about how to make Chinese shell carving carried forward and inherited,which is also the research feature of this article.The main content of this article is divided into three parts: The first part,by summarizing the origin and development and artistic features of Dalian Beidiao,summarizes the early development and creative form of Dalian Beidiao and the influences it has experienced in the development.In the second part,there’s an interview with Jin Ashan himself,which is a systematic analysis of Jin Ashan’s creative process,carving process and other aspects,The author also sum up its unique process characteristics and creative ideas from the works created in the early days to the current works’ theme,composition,modeling,style,skills,etc.The third part is to explain the inheritance and innovation of Jin Ashan’s shell carving technology and its future development and put forward his own views and opinions on the current status of shell carving.It is concluded that the skill of shell carving changes with the progress of time.The content,aesthetic taste,material selection,tools and equipment,and even promotion methods should be kept up to date with the changes of the times,so as to promote the traditional craftsmanship At the same time,so it caters to the new needs of today’s society for the protection and inheritance of folk crafts.On the basis of innovation,it also protects traditional culture.
