China is known as a cultural power with a long cultural tradition, with a 5,000-year history of civilisation and rich cultural resources, but these resources have not yet been fully utilised, and compared to developed Western countries, the development of cultural industries still needs to catch up.Now that people have basically solved the problems of food, clothing, housing and transport, they are beginning to pursue spiritual satisfaction, which provides a huge market opportunity for the development of cultural industries. The report of the 18 th Party Congress has given newer, more detailed and comprehensive instructions on the cultural industry and established new goals for its future development. As a pivotal category in the development of national power and a key area to stimulate economic vitality, the cultural industry has risen to the level of national strategy. With the development of cultural industries, the phenomenon of agglomeration is becoming more and more prominent, but the research on the agglomeration and development of cultural industries in China’s academia is not deep enough, therefore,it is important to study how the degree of agglomeration of China’s cultural industries plays a role in the level of development of cultural industries.Firstly, this thesis compares the relevant literature and theories, and then explores the situation of cultural industry development in China and in each region through descriptive statistics from five aspects: national overall, eastern region, central region, western region and northeastern region, after which the agglomeration degree of cultural industry in China is measured through locational entropy and spatial Gini coefficient, and the agglomeration situation of cultural industry is analysed.provinces(except Tibet)from 2011-2020 to construct a panel data model to explore the impact of the agglomeration of cultural industries on their development, analysing not only the country as a whole but also the impact of four different regions;then the conclusions obtained in the previous paper are tested for robustness by replacing the explanatory variables. As the previous studies all involved the national provinces and municipalities as independent individuals and did not take into account the spatial factor, the final analysis of the mutual influence of cultural industries in neighbouring regions was carried out by building a spatial econometric model. The main conclusions of this thesis are:(1)China’s cultural industry as a whole is in a slow development stage, but the degree of development varies greatly between regions, most notably in the northeast, where development is the slowest.(2)The degree of agglomeration of China’s cultural industries as a whole is on the increase, but there are significant differences between regions, especially in the northeast, where the level of agglomeration of cultural industries is the lowest.(3)In terms of China as a whole, the agglomeration of cultural industries has significantly contributed to their level of development. The strength of government support, the level of human capital, investment in cultural industries, the allocation of cultural facilities, the spread of internet technology and the cultural needs of the masses are all conducive to the development of cultural industries.(4)There are regional differences in the impact of the agglomeration of cultural industries on their development.(5)There is a spatial correlation between the agglomeration of cultural industries and the level of development of cultural industries in China, and there is a very significant state of spatial agglomeration, but most provinces in China do not have a strong radiating effect on neighbouring provinces.(6)The agglomeration of cultural industries in both local and neighbouring regions can improve the development level of local cultural industries. The following recommendations are made in response to the findings:(1)increase investment in cultural industries;(2)strengthen the radiation-driving effect between regions;(3)actively play the leading role of the government;(4)improve the construction of cultural industry infrastructure. |
