During the two World wars, there emerged a modernist school,Surrealism, which prevailed in Europe and was of great significance in the field of visual arts. Two artists,Breton and Apollinaire, initiated surrealism and opened a new chapter for literary and artistic luck. The subconscious theory of Austrian psychologist Freud and the intuitionism of French philosopher Bergesen laid the philosophical fondation for surrealism, which also incorporated the concept of metaphysics in philosophy.Philosophical theory provides us with tools and directions in the study of art.The proposition of surrealism is that we should break through some realistic images with logic in real life, break some practical instincts and logical things, give up these ordered and practical things so as to liberate our repressed desire and nature, and let the real world no longer be controlled by rational logic.Surrealism believes that the real world should be able to show people’s deep hearts or dreams, our real face and the transcendent world outside the reality in reality, that is,the surreal world. The creative inspiration of artists comes from the surrealistic fantasy in their hearts. They express the original freedom and impulse in their hearts, break the conventional logic theory and the order of real life, and express artistic creation in accordance with the freedom of their hearts. In 1924,surrealism was established as a school of art by theorist Andre Breton in his Surrealist Manifesto,in which he defined Surrealism as a "purely spiritual spontaneous phenomenon".Rene Magritte is one of the representatives of the surrealist movement in the 20 th century.Born in 1898 in Belgium,he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, which laid the foundation for Magritte’s surreal world. His works more showed his concern for the people and things around,he paid more attention to the details of everyday things, relative to the same period style some weird perverse creators, surrealism magritte’s work has revealed that the fine and the creation of the quadrature in the compasses in style,he likes to use the technique of defamiliarization, will live in everyday objects to rearrange the combined to Express your inner thoughts. He had Dali’s weirdness in his work, but he had trouble accepting Dali’s random collage of unrelated things, and he had Miro’s fantastical humor, but he also had trouble accepting Miro’s radicalism.Magritte’s works are clean and pure, but also full of magic, bizarre, dark and mysterious."Wearing a hat man" is one of his masterpieces,he was always in daily life, with a roof of old-style black bowler hats, even seem to be a little old-fashioned rigid, mediocre ordinary, very different from his works full of magic, and black bowler hat this element is also frequently appear in his works, and reflects the details of his life. The formation of Magritte’s not very typical surrealist painting style is closely related to the age in which he lived.Magritte experienced the First World War when he was a teenager, and such a war environment made him feel distant from the contemporary art prevailing in Europe at that time.
