A Study On The Hometown Writing Of Ge Shuiping’s Novels

Ge Shuiping,a native of Qinshui,Shanxi Province,is a famous contemporary writer.Since the new century,she has published a number of Short stories and two novels.Ge Shuiping’s novel creation has made many important achievements and has won a variety of literary awards.A considerable part of Ge Shuiping’s novels use her hometown Qinshui as the Geodesic space,most of her works are narrated with the author’s hometown Shanxi Qinshui as the geography space,forming a unique appearance of hometown writing.This paper mainly studies the hometown writing of Ge Shuiping’s novels from the aspects of writing theme,narrative strategy,characterization,reason and value.The hometown writing of Ge Shuiping’s novels has rich thematic implications.Based on the war novel created by the hometown of the memory of the Anti-Japanese War,Ge Shuiping criticized the war,and reflected on the war trauma and human destruction brought by the war,presenting a distinct theme of criticism and reflection.Through the writing about the survival and life experience of the hometown villagers,she has formed the theme of survival and life with regional color.She also revealed the stubbornness and change of the villagers in the concept of sex,marriage and love in different times,and constructed the theme of sex and love with unique local characteristics.The hometown writing of Ge Shuiping’s novels has shaped a unique character image.The image of the mother is not only the divine brilliance of the Virgin,but also the vulgar pursuit of the desire.The prostitute and virgin mother have the characteristics of "Virgin" and "prostitute",while the kind and tenacious earth mother shows the noble national integrity,more inclusive and loving feelings.The male image is always in the state of "seeking",and the late seeker in career,love,marriage and so on;the "paranoid seeker" shows selfishness and narrow character in the realization of self-desire.The image of farmers who cling to or deviate from the land not only reveals the intergenerational differences of villagers,but also reflects the great changes of the times and society.The hometown writing of Ge Shuiping’s novels has adopted a variety of narrative strategies.In terms of perspective selection,the "detached perspective" is the main one,and the "limited perspective" is adopted.Through the transformation of perspective,so as to avoid the harm of the narrative to the true sense of the novel.In terms of time arrangement,it generally follows the natural time sequence,and partly uses the wrong timing techniques such as flashbacks and narration,showing the ingenious art of time coordination.In terms of time and distance arrangement,it makes full use of overview,extension,omission,pause and other techniques to control the narrative rhythm written in the hometown,presenting a relaxed narrative rhythm.In terms of image construction,through the repeated writing of death images,folk images and animal images,it gives full play to the plot link role of these images,so that the content of hometown writing has multiple meanings.The hometown writing of Ge Shuiping’s novels is not only closely related to the writer’s childhood experience and nostalgia complex,but also influenced by the geographical environment,regional culture and Zhao Shuli’s novel creation.The multi-dimensional image of modern and contemporary literature and the female consciousness of compassion rooted in the homeland have made a unique contribution to the development of contemporary female literature.Of course,there are also some problems in her hometown writing,such as lack of imagination and intolerance of Ge Shuiping’s creative vision.
