| The setting of exercises in the International Chinese Intermediate Comprehensive Textbook plays a very important role in cultivating learners’ vocabulary acquisition ability,and is therefore one of the key factors to be examined in textbook writing.The scientific and reasonable setting directly affects students’ understanding and application of Chinese vocabulary.The research is based on the first and second volumes of the textbook "Developing Intermediate Comprehensive Chinese Language".Starting from the needs of learners’ vocabulary acquisition,a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis is used to investigate and analyze the quantity,question types,content,and the content of the Chinese vocabulary knowledge framework involved in vocabulary exercises.The aim is to understand whether the vocabulary exercises in this textbook are comprehensive and effective,and whether they have a promoting effect on learners’ incidental vocabulary acquisition.This study is mainly divided into the following parts:(1)Firstly,the background and significance of the topic are pointed out,and the existing research on textbook exercises is mainly limited to the number and type of exercises,without any connection with deep language knowledge.Based on this phenomenon,based on the research status of incidental vocabulary acquisition and vocabulary practice,the research direction is determined,and the research methods,ideas,and related theories are introduced.(2)From three aspects: the way of vocabulary learning,the definition of incidental vocabulary learning,and the factors that affect incidental vocabulary learning,this paper gives a specific explanation of incidental vocabulary learning;(3)By discussing the importance of learning Chinese vocabulary for international students,the composition of vocabulary and the characteristics of vocabulary,this paper summarizes the principles and ways of presenting vocabulary exercises in textbooks;(4)Based on the vocabulary exercises in textbooks 1 and 2 of "Developing Intermediate Comprehensive Chinese Language",this study examines the problems in vocabulary exercises from four aspects: the number of exercises,question types,content,and the framework of vocabulary knowledge involved.It aims to identify whether vocabulary practice settings affect learners’ incidental vocabulary acquisition ability;(5)Based on the data support from the previous text,a comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of vocabulary practice in this textbook is conducted.The impact of vocabulary practice settings on incidental vocabulary acquisition is explored from three aspects: the task volume,theme,and method of vocabulary practice;(6)It links the setting of vocabulary exercises with incidental vocabulary acquisition,and puts forward reasonable suggestions for the improvement of the setting of exercises.At the same time,it hopes to provide international Chinese teachers with ways to deal with vocabulary exercises by adapting exercise forms,promoting students’ cooperative learning,enriching the context of vocabulary exercises,so as to make vocabulary exercises play its greatest value,and also hope to provide some reference for vocabulary teaching in international Chinese. |
