The Research Of The Place Names In Taiyuan In The Perspective Of Cultural Linguistics

This paper investigates Taiyuan place names from the perspective of cultural linguistics,explains the rich cultural connotation of Taiyuan place names through the collation and analysis of the language materials of Taiyuan place names,enriches the study of geographical names in Taiyuan,and promotes the protection and promotion of Taiyuan place name culture.This paper includes five parts.The introduction part make a brief introduction of Taiyuan place names and their research status,and explains the research methods,research significance,research scope and corpus sources of this paper.Chapter 1,the geographical culture reflected in Taiyuan place names.The geological and geomorphological features reflected by Taiyuan place names are elaborated;the characteristics of Taiyuan place names in terms of river and hydrology are analyzed,with abundant river,lake and spring resources and robust and practical water conservancy projects;the richness of local material resources is reflected through the discussion of Taiyuan place names in terms of plant resources,animal resources and mineral resources.Chapter 2,the historical and economic conditions represented by Taiyuan place names.First,the thesis analyzes the representative historical sites embodied in Taiyuan place names;second,the cultural connotations behind the place names and their strong historical flavor are interpreted from historical figures and stories;finally,the economic production place names are analyzed to reproduce the economic development of ancient Taiyuan city.Chapter 3,the military culture embodied in the place names of Taiyuan.The thesis first divides the military engineering embodied in Taiyuan place names into two parts: cities and passes;then it collects and studies the Taiyuan place names related to camping and military needs;in addition,some other Taiyuan place names related to military and war are analyzed with examples.Chapter 4,the mentality culture embedded in Taiyuan place names.First,place names related to dragons and phoenixes reflect people’s totem worship;second,place names related to family names and ancestral shrines reveal the importance people attach to clans;second,Buddhist and Taoist place names reveal people’s belief in religion;next,place names related to traditional morality reflect people’s mentality of attaching importance to moral inheritance.
