| During 2022 summer vacation, the author accompanied Tyrrell,a tourist from Kenya to visit Dongtou Scenic Area in Wenzhou and accomplished the interpreting practice based on this journey. In this practice, the guide gave a detailed introduction to all kinds of scenes in the three scenic spots in Dongtou Scenic Area, namely Xiandie Rock,Banping Mountain and Overlooking Hall. However, the interpreting of some parts of guide speech, such as proper nouns,culture-loaded words and poem exerted great difficulty for the interpreter and caused several problems during site-interpreting.Therefore,in response to the frequently occurring problem of information loss in practice, the author will use the triangle model of the interpretive theory to analyze the causes of information loss and provide coping strategies for each cause of information loss. The triangle model of interpretive theory divided the process of interpreting into three stages including comprehension, deverbalization and reformulation.Based on the triangle model, this report will analyze the cause of information loss in each step of interpreting, including lack of linguistic knowledge, improper logic processing and ill-reproducing the culture-loaded words.Besides, the report will also provide coping strategy to each cause, respectively comprehension enhancement by encyclopedia knowledge preparation, deverbalization with condition-based logic processing and reformulation through intratextual gloss and conversion.Theoretically, this report will provide a better understanding to the interpretive theory of interpretation.Practically, this report will help the author and other interpreters reduce and even avoid information loss in their future interpreting task. |
