A Study On Narrative Strategies Of Realistic Themed Films From The Perspective Of Structuralism Narratology

Structuralism narratology views works as an independent system that is not disturbed by external environments.It grasps their deep structure,studying the relationship between narrative structure,narrative time,narrative perspective,narrative character relationships,and conflicts,and exploring how these elements collectively construct the meaning and effectiveness of narrative.The story in the realistic themed film is mostly adapted from real events,which brings the audience deeper thinking.Applying structuralism narratology to realistic themed films can shape and optimize the film from multiple levels.The paper,which is based on structuralism narratology and realistic themed film,takes the graduate thesis "Dao·Yuan" as an example to carry out five chapters of research.The first chapter discusses the research background,significance and methods of "Dao·Yuan" and combs the literature review of structuralism narratology and realistic themed film at home and abroad;The second chapter elaborates and studies structuralism theory,structuralism narratology,and clarifies the definition of the concept of realistic themed film,creative characteristics and the practical application of structuralism narratology in realistic themed film;The third chapter studies the narrative structure and narrative time under the theory of structuralism narratology in combination with the graduation work "Dao·Yuan" created by the author,the narrative structure of "Dao·Yuan" is a network structure in which the light and dark lines are intertwined and captivating.In the meanwhile,the narrative time presents the form of nonlinear narrative coherence time from the perspectives of time sequence,time distance,and frequency;The fourth chapter explores the narrative perspective and the relationship between the narrative characters in the narrative strategy of "Dao Yuan",exploring from two perspectives: "Dao Yuan" adopts a combination of multiple narrative methods that focus on the inner thoughts of the characters and the theme of the film,and analyzes the construction of character relationships and narrative conflicts using the "action element" and "matrix" modes;Chapter five summarizes the graduation work "Dao Yuan".The purpose of this paper is to apply structuralism narratology theory to realistic themed film and express the deep connotation of the works with ingenious narrative strategies,which is conducive to the audience’s in-depth understanding of the relationship between characters and the theme,understanding the deep structure and surface structure of the works,and then understanding the deep meaning of the plot,improving the artistic expression effect of the film,and further enriching the understanding and research of structuralism narratology on real theme works.
