In recent years, the cultural and creative industry has experienced rapid growth due to its unique cultural connotation and innovation, becoming a new economic growth, and strongly promoting the development of our economy.China’s cultural and creative industry has benefited from the positive effects of the RCEP agreement, which has promoted trade between China and RCEP member countries and is of great significance for the rapid development of trade in cultural and creative products in China. However, whether the export of cultural and creative products can achieve sustainable development and how long the sustainable period of development is a more concerned issue in the theoretical circle and the practical sector. Therefore, this thesis examines the impact of cultural identity on the duration of China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries. This research has vital practical and theoretical implications for ensuring the long-term and sustainable development of China’s cultural and creative industry. This thesis examines the impact of cultural identity on the duration of China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries using trade data from 2011 to 2020.Firstly,the research investigates the theoretical influences of cultural identity on the export of cultural and creative products.Secondly, the current situation and existing problems of China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries are analyzed from three perspectives, including export scale, export product structure, and export region structure. The study finds that while China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries is on the rise, but the export is structurally imbalanced, with an excessive concentration of market regions and intensive export of low value-added products, resulting in a relatively short duration of export trade to some RCEP member countries.Thirdly,Kaplan-Meier survival analysis function is employed to measure the duration of export cultural and creative products of RCEP member countries. The study reveals that the average duration of export trade is 3.92 years, and the median is 3 years. Then,by calculating the duration of export trade of different product categories,it is found that the duration of audio-visual cultural and creative products in our country is obviously lower than that of other categories.By calculating the duration of export trade in different export destination countries and specific export destination countries,it is found that the probability of sustained export trade in destination countries that do not belong to the same civilization as our country is lower than the probability of sustained export trade in destination countries that belong to the same civilization as our country. This further proves that the export period of cultural and creative products to some RCEP member countries is not very long.No matter from what aspects the duration of export trade is measured, the export of cultural and creative products has a "threshold effect",that is,the survival risk is relatively high in the early stage of export trade relationship, but it is easier to maintain once the export relationship is unstable in the first few years. With the continuous extension of the duration of export trade relationship, the probability of the interruption of bilateral trade relationship decreases gradually. Finally, using the discrete time Logit model, this thesis examines the influence of cultural identity on the duration of China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries, taking into account control variables such as the economic scale of the importing country, economic freedom index, whether it borders China, whether it is a landlocked country, and whether there are Confucius institutes. The empirical results demonstrated that cultural identity has a significant positive impact on the duration of China’s export of cultural and creative products to RCEP member countries. The higher the degree of cultural identity between the two countries, the greater the probability of maintaining the continuous export of cultural products to RCEP member countries. In order to ensure the reliability of the regression results of the Logit model, the discrete time Probit model and Cloglog model are also employed for regression analysis of the same samples, with the robustness test results confirming the consistency of the estimated results, thus ensuring the robustness of the research conclusions. On this basis, this thesis puts forward some suggestions about extending the duration of export of our cultural and creative products.
