With the advancement of English curriculum reform and the development of modern educational assessment theory,people have paid more and more attention to the importance of assessment in teaching.Many educators put forward that assessment should be integrated into teaching process so as to play its role in promoting teaching and learning.Integration of teaching,learning and assessment(ITLA)conforms to this trend and gives full play to the guiding function of instructional objectives,promotes the achievement of objectives by designing assessment activities and teaching activities,and realizes the goals of assessment for learning and assessment for teaching.Based on ITLA,this study takes four high school English reading exemplary lessons as the research subject,and explores the characteristics of ITLA in high school English reading instruction by focusing on teachers’ pre-class instructional design and while-class teaching implementation,so as to provide practical references for high school English front-line teachers.This study intends to answer the following research questions:(1)What extent do the exemplary lessons reflect the concepts of ITLA?(2)What are the problems in the implementation of ITLA of exemplary lessons?The content analysis method is used to analyze the content of the exemplary lessons,the findings are as follows:(1)The instructional objectives of the four exemplary lessons are operable;the classroom activities correspond to the instructional objectives;the teachers collect students’ study information in the classroom and give feedback to students,which largely play the role of promoting teaching and learning and reflected the concept of ITLA.(2)The teachers’ assessment method is relatively homogeneous;the assessment subjects are mostly teachers;students seldom participate in assessment by peer assessment and self-assessment.In response to the above findings,this thesis puts forward suggestions in aspects of instructional objectives design,activities design,and student participation in the assessment: 1)Teachers should design teaching objective based on the curriculum,the learner analysis and textbook content analysis.Teaching objectives need to be hierarchical.The statements of teaching objectives need to be actionable.2)Teachers should design teaching activities based on objectives.The activities should be hierarchical based on activity-based approach to English learning.Teachers should focus on students and adjust teaching through their performance.3)Teachers should increase student-centered assessment methods in order to promote students to participate in the assessment.
