Fu Baoshi’s Practical Research On Sketching

Fu Baoshi is an innovative painter of Chinese landscape painting in the 20 th century,he has rich travels,profound artistic skills,and extensive interests,and has outstanding achievements in art history,painting,calligraphy,seal carving and other aspects.Fu Baoshi experienced four most important sketching activities in his life,and this paper selects Fu Baoshi’s 23,000-li sketching experience in 1960 as the focus of research,and analyzes Fu Baoshi’s painting characteristics and artistic achievements in depth through the study of his sketching experience.Under the background of national art transformation,Fu Baoshi grasped the trend of the times to make artistic breakthroughs.In response to the party’s call to solve the problem that Chinese painting could not reflect the current reality,Fu Baoshi led Yaming,Qian Songran and other members of the Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Painting Academy to carry out a three-month 23,000-mile travel sketching practice.In the process of sketching,Fu Baoshi used the book "Essential Methods for Writing Mountains" to scientifically analyze the traditional method of the law,according to the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the 23,000-mile passage area,followed all the principles of starting from the real landscape,and made a lot of practical explorations in the way of sketching,subject matter,artistic style,etc.,so as to lay the foundation for his sketching and create a number of classic works that are well-known in the art world.As a group sketching activity,Fu Baoshi has conducted many artistic exchanges with members of the sketching group and art groups along the way,and these ideas exchange and discussion have reference value for the study of Fu Baoshi’s sketching creation.This practice of life drawing has a practical impact and practical significance on Fu Baoshi’s artistic creation,and also provides a reference basis and enlightenment for the creation of contemporary landscape painting.
