A Study On The Syntactic Function Of The Person/Thing Demonstratives In Shanxi Dialect

The demonstratives of the Shanxi dialect are very characteristic.Based on the fieldwork method,this paper investigates the pronunciation,syntactic function,grammatical commonality of demonstratives and structural particles,and the phenomenon of superposition and overlap of demonstratives,and explores their rules,so as to enrich the research on Shanxi dialect demonstratives and provide reference materials for the comparative study of Chinese dialects.The full text is divided into five chapters:The 1 chapter is an introductory part,which mainly introduces the definition of demonstratives,the research overview of demonstratives in Shanxi dialect,explains the research purpose and significance of this paper,research methods and innovations,and briefly explains the selection points,corpus sources and symbols of this paper.Chapter 2 explores the syntactic functional distribution of Shanxi person/thing demonstratives.After research,it was found that the basic demonstratives in the Jin dialect area showed a tendency to shrink in syntactic function,and in addition,there was a correspondence between the pronunciation and syntactic function of the demonstratives in the Shanxi dialect.In parts of the Shanxi dialect,there are demonstratives that are mainly used to refer to person or mainly to refer to thing;In the Jin dialect,there is a phenomenon of opposing the demonstratives singular and plural morphology.Chapter 3 mainly explores the grammatical commonality of person/thing demonstratives and structural particles in the Shanxi dialect.The following rules have been found through research.First,the degree of grammaticalization of demonstratives in southern Shanxi(the Shangdang clusters in the southeast of Shanxi,and the Fenhe clusters in the southern Shanxi)is the highest,and when some dialect demonstratives assume the function of structural particles,the distance meaning and definite function have completely disappeared,and the degree of legalization of demonstratives in other dialects of Shanxi is low.Second,there is a hierarchical sequence of grammatical commonalities between demonstratives(including demonstrative-classifier phrases)and structural particles: from the point of view of the part of speech of the attributive: a(nominal attributive)> c(verbal attributive)>b(adjective attributive);From the point of view of the central language: attributive phrase > central implicit structure.Chapter 4 mainly discusses the phenomenon of superposition and overlap of demonstratives in the Shanxi dialect,mainly superposition.The superposition structure mainly refers to person/thing,and the pronunciation and syntactic functions of the two demonstratives in the structure are different,which is the reason why the two demonstratives in the superposition structure of the Shanxi dialect cannot be interchanged,and it is also a necessary condition for the special phenomenon of the superposition of the demonstratives.The overlapping form mainly refers to location/place,and the overlapping form refers to a smaller and more specific place than the basic form.However,due to the long period of use,the emphasis of overlapping forms is weakened,so the difference between overlapping and basic form is subtle and can be freely interchanged.Chapter 5 is the epilogue,summarizing the full text and explaining the shortcomings of the article.
