Demonstratives of Shanxi dialects have different phonetic forms, and their distance category can be classified into two types: the bipartite system and the tripartite system. This paper discusses phonetic forms, referents, the syntactic function, the bipartite system and the tripartite system of demonstratives in Shanxi dialects. This paper can be divided into six parts:The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly introduces the research purpose and significance, the domestic and foreign research trend, the research content, the research method and the innovation of this paper. The second chapter is a detailed description about phonetic forms of demonstratives in all points of Shanxi dialects.Phonetic forms can be classified into three types: basic phonetic forms, changes of basic phonetic forms, combinations of basic phonetic forms. The following is a summary of commonalities and differences between dialect partitions. The third chapter discusses the following questions: Is a certain phonetic form of demonstratives a word or a morpheme? What morphemes a certain phonetic form of demonstratives can be combined with? What referents a certain phonetic form should refer to? On this basis,we summarize the corresponding rule between different phonetic forms and their referents. The fourth chapter studies the syntactic function of demonstratives in terms of four aspects: Which can be used as pronouns? Which can be used to modify common nouns? Which can be used to modify number phrases? And which can be used to modify quantifiers? On the basis of a detailed analysis of different syntactic functions,we summarize the corresponding rule between different phonetic forms and their syntactic functions. The fifth chapter studies the bipartite system and the tripartite system of 106 dialect points in Shanxi dialects.First of all, points out that the following situations do not belong to the tripartite system: Some dialect points use both wu(?)and na(?)to express distant reference. Some dialect points use wu(?)for there, and use na(?)for far from there, when it is necessary to distinguish here, there, and far from there. Some dialect points temporarily use different phonetic forms to express distant reference. Then counts up the number of the bipartite system and the tripartite system. Finally, describes their distribution by a map.The sixth chapter is the conclusion. We summarize rules and reconsider shortcomings.
