| Bingling Temple Grottoes are located at the important Yellow River crossing from the mainland to the Hexi Corridor.There are many exquisite stone statues and lifelike murals.The statues and the murals in the grottoes of Bingling Temple are mainly preserved in the grottoes of the Sixteen Kingdoms,Tang and Ming Dynasties.Cave 169 preserves the outside of the third niche,and the tang Dynasty grottoes preserve 26 bodies of the statues and 8 murals of the Heavenly King of the Ming Dynasty.Through the field investigation,this paper tease and studies the images of the Heavenly King and the murals of Bingling Temple Grottoes.The statues of Bingling Temple grottoes are mainly in the Tang Dynasty,and the murals of Heavenly King are mainly in the Ming Dynasty.The statues of Heavenly King and murals are one of the most important components of the grottoes art of Bingling Temple.First,this paper defines the concept of “Heavenly King”,then discuss the image and belief of the heavenly contained in Buddhist classics,and trace the origin and development process of the image of Heavenly King.Next,the mainly of the image of the image of Bingling Temple,the image of Heavenly King is distributed in 22 grottoes and niche in Xiasi District and Donggou District,on the new findings,to correct the mistakes in describing the statues of the Heavenly King and the murals in the general contents of the Bingling Temple Grottoes,for additions that have not yet been written,the ambiguity for the specific description,through the appearance of the king,armor,feet and other aspects to explore its image characteristics,the formation of the image of Bingling Temple is explained in the level of social belief.Finally,the paper discusses the related problems of Bingling Temple,that the statue outside the third niche in Cave 169 is the statue of the Heavenly King,not the statue of Heracles,analyzes the image of the Heavenly King of Tibetan Buddhism in Bingling Temple,believing that the murals are dominated by Gelug,and the stories in the picture are secularized,showing the communication of Han and Tibetan culture.The subject of the image of Bingling Temple Grottoes has great research significance,but there is no systematic combing and textual research in the academic circle.A comprehensive and detailed study of the image of the grottoes of Bingling Temple can not only systematically reveal the characteristics of the Tang Dynasty Heavenly King statues and the murals of the Ming Dynasty,but also add some reliable evidence and materials to the overall study of the Bingling Temple Grottoes,hoping to further research on the basis of the current academic research. |
