The pagodas in the Bingling Temple grottoes are mainly distributed in the lower temple area, the upper temple area, the Donggou area, the pheasant ditch, the white pagoda ditch, the Dishui Ridge, and so on.According to the material, they can be divided into relief pagodas, stone pagodas, mural pagodas, clay pagodas,gold-plated bronze pagodas, and so on.The time is mainly in the Western Qin Dynasty,Tang Dynasty,Song and Yuan dynasties,Ming and Qing dynasties and other periods, the shape of the system is stupa, imitation wooden temple-style tower and bowl-covered tower. This article mainly carries on the preliminary quantity, the kind, the distribution area statistics to the Bingling Temple grotto pagoda;According to the time sequence and the degree of development of the pagoda, this paper divides the pagoda into stages, and explains the spread of Buddhism and the changes of the pagoda in each period,so as to know that the evolution of the style of the pagoda is mainly influenced by the spread of Buddhist culture.According to the development and evolution of the pagoda system, the pagoda of Bingling Temple has experienced the development and evolution of three kinds of pagodas, that is,the stupa type, the imitation of wooden structure, and the overlaying of the bowl-shaped pagoda. The issue of the dating of the temple-style pagodas and some bowl-covered pagodas in the Lower Temple area is mainly based on the shape and structure of the pagodas and the development laws of the pagodas in other areas. It is inferred that the temple-shaped pagodas in the lower temple area were born in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and the bowl-covered pagodas in the lower temple area were produced in the Ming Dynasty. The cultural exchanges embodied in the pagodas of Bingling Temple include both Chinese and Western cultural exchanges as well as regional cultural exchanges. Some of the pagodas in Bingling Temple Grottoes have the charm of the early style of stupa, some contain the classical style of the traditional wooden architecture of the Tang Dynasty, and some have the national characteristics of the Tibetan pagodas.Different periods of pagodas have different characteristics of the times, different kinds of pagodas have different regional characteristics. The development and evolution of pagodas in Bingling Temple also reflect the development and spread of Buddhism in Bingling Temple to a certain extent, and the two complement each other. As a valuable part of the world cultural heritage, the Buddha pagoda in Bingling Temple grottoes needs to be protected and studied.
