In ancient times, the Xingyang region had many county-level political districts such as Xingyang,Chenggao(Sishui),Jing,Xingze and Heyin, and these county-level political districts were constantly differentiated and integrated in the historical process, and there was a trend of merger in the late Qing Dynasty.Xingyang region did not have a formal political district for most of the pre-Qin period, and after Qin placed Sanchuan County,Xingyang region appeared in the Xingyang area, and Xingyang and Chenggao counties were the only county-level political districts in Xingyang at this time.Xingyang had the advantage of waterway transportation and was a bridgehead for controlling the Guandong,so it became the county seat of Qin Sanchuan County.During the Qin and Han dynasties, the Xingyang region mainly had three county-level political districts: Xingyang,Chenggao and Jing. After the unification of Qin,Xingyang continued to be the seat of Sanchuan Commandery.Hanxing, due to the needs of social and economic development,Xingyang lost its status as a county.During Wang Mang’s reign,Xingyang was once the seat of Qi Lu County, but soon resumed its status as a county-level political district, while Chenggao and Jinger counties remained county-level administrative districts.During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the political changes in Xingyang were more chaotic and complicated.During this period, there were frequent wars, and Xingyang was the seat of Xingyang County for most of the time, while Chenggao was mainly under the jurisdiction of Henan County before the Southern and Northern Dynasties.During the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Bianqu was gradually congested, and the political status of the Xingyang region gradually declined, resulting in the migration of Xingyang County, coupled with the changes in the political and military situation in the late Southern and Northern Dynasties, the regional political center also began to change. In the late period of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the political regions of the Xingyang region were divided first and then integrated.During the Sui,Tang and Song dynasties, the Xingyang area mainly had four county-level political districts,Xingyang,Xianshui,Xingze and Heyin, and due to the loss of Xingyang waterway transportation advantages, the regional political center at this time first went to Xianshui, and then moved to Guancheng in the early Tang Dynasty, completely moving out of Xingyang area.Affected by the political and military situation, after the Tang Anshi Rebellion, the political region of Xingyang Prefecture was roughly divided into two parts, with the two counties of Xingyang and Xingze in the southeast continuing to belong to Zhengzhou, and the two counties of Bianshui and Heyin in the northwest being under the jurisdiction of Mengzhou for most of the time.During the Jin,Yuan,Ming, and Qing dynasties, the political region of Xingyang District was a period of decline, and all four counties of Xingyang District were under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou, and for most of the time thereafter, the political territory of Xingyang District was relatively stable.During this period, due to the acceleration of the southward migration of the Yellow River, frequent floods caused Heyin,Xingze and other counties to be relocated many times, laboring the people and losing money, the four counties in Xingyang area generally declined, and Heyin County was merged into Xingze County at the end of the Qing Dynasty, and the political integration of Xingyang area gradually accelerated. The political changes in Xingyang area are affected by a variety of factors such as politics, military, economy and geographical environment, and on the whole, the political, military, geographical environment and other factors in the Qin,Han,Wei and Jin periods are the main factors of political changes in Xingyang area, and the political, military, economic and other factors in the Sui,Tang and Song periods are the main factors affecting the changes in the political region of Xingyang, and the main influencing factors after Jin become geographical environment, economy and other factors.
