Music And Performance Analysis Of The First Movement Of Cello Concerto In D Minor By Edouard Lalo

Based on Edouard Lalo’s biography and compositional background,this paper makes a detailed analysis and research on the musical structure and playing technique of the first movement of Cello Concerto in d Minor,the only famous cello work of Edouard Lalo.In terms of musical structure,starting from the introduction,exposition,development,recapitulation and coda,the thesis analyzes its theme,tonality,harmony,rhythm and orchestration.In terms of playing skills,the four parts,namely elastic playing in irregular rhythm,continuous rapid change of the left hand,thumb position and vibrato the bow,are targeted to analyze their practice methods based on their own playing practice and reference to the different treatment of the same segment by three representative cellists from different countries.This study will enable learners to better perform the concerto and express its social and artistic value.Until now,this piece is still played and recorded by many cellists,but also widely used in cello art teaching.
