| Louis Cha’s martial arts novels are well known both at home and abroad,with a large number of readers.In the past 70 years,readers’ interest in Louis Cha’s novels has continuously increased.Louis Cha’s novels contain the spirit of freedom and the core of heroism,including the martial arts scenes of happy enmities and legendary stories in the Wuxia’s world.In Louis Cha’s novels,"Emotion refreshes the mind,scenery is in the eyes and ears,and describing things as if they were uttered.".The widespread love of readers and the artistic value of his works make Louis Cha’s novels of great significance in literature.Literature and drama are closely related,and Louis Cha’s novels have also been adapted into dramatic works,but there is less relevant research.Therefore,the author has paid attention to the phenomenon of Louis Cha’s novels adapting drama.By studying the adaptation of dramas from Louis Cha’s martial arts novels,this paper summarizes the experience of drama adaptation,with a view to providing reference for later adaptation of martial arts novel themes.This article mainly focuses on the research of four drama works adapted from Louis Cha’s novels,using the research methods of literature research,text reading,comparative research,and watching performance videos to explore the issue of drama adaptation in Louis Cha’s novels.The paper consists of seven parts:The first part is an introduction,which expounds the current situation of drama adaptation of Louis Cha’s martial arts novels.Taking this as the research background to clarify the research significance and research ideas of this article,and summarize the current research situation of the dramatic adaptation of Louis Cha’s martial arts novels,thereby indicating the research direction of this article.The second part analyzes the basic conditions for adapting Louis Cha’s novels into dramatic works and the possible problems encountered during the adaptation process.Louis Cha’s novels can be adapted into dramatic works due to the advantages of his martial arts novels in five aspects: the audience base,the scenery of the description,the distinctive character images,the vivid language style,and the underlying theme spirit.The above gives the adapter motivation and confidence,and is also the basis for Louis Cha’s novel adaptation to be adapted into dramatic works.The copyright issue in the dramatic adaptation of Louis Cha’s novels,the reduction of the huge narrative content,the dramatic transformation of the psychological portrayal of the novel,the dramatic expression of the martial arts scenes,and the cultural awareness of the female attachment to the novel are five aspects that are contrary to modern consciousness,and these are the issues that need to be resolved in the adaptation of Louis Cha’s novels and dramatic works.The third part analyzes the Beijing opera "The Legend of Heroes in Shooting and Carving".The analysis is conducted from two aspects: text and stage.The text is discussed from three aspects: the comparison between the 92 nd edition and the 01 st edition of Beijing opera "The Legend of the Archer Hero," following the deletion of the original work,and the treatment of the theatrical language with Beijing flavor.The stage presentation was analyzed in terms of music and motion design.The most prominent feature of this work is that there are many martial arts scenes,which make the audience enjoy it very much.The fourth part analyzes the Yue opera "The Deer and the Cauldron".This paper analyzes the adaptation of the text of Yue Opera "The Deer and the Cauldron" from four aspects: selecting main stories and characters,depicting main conflicting characters,continuing the theme of "righteousness",and flashback narration.The stage presentation is analyzed from three aspects: the relaxation and flexibility of stage performance techniques,the simplification of stage style,and the transplantation of drama separation techniques.Through the reorganization of the story and the design of the stage,the adapter have also given a unique flavor to Yue Opera,which was originally not good at martial arts.The fifth part analyzes the adaptation of Louis Cha’s novel "The Story of the Deer Tripod",and discusses the textual adaptation of the drama "The Story of the Deer Tripod" from five aspects: commercialized narration,character deletion,three-act drama structure,extensive entertainment of the lines,and narration.This paper discusses the stage presentation of the drama "The Deer Tripod" from five aspects: audience interaction,compatibility of drama elements,music,scenery,and stage design.In the dramatic adaptation of Louis Cha’s novels,the narrative of the characters has been transformed,the plot has also undergone changes,the story has been reorganized,and the language lines have also been colloquially processed.Finally,the adapter have also reshaped the character image to varying degrees,such as beautification,highlighting,deletion,and refinement.Adapters have made the stage realism and freehand brushwork compatible with each other through innovation in space and scenery,and have enhanced artistic effects through innovation in performance methods.The combination of these factors has made the dramatic stage of Louis Cha’s novels present new and changing features that are different from the past.The sixth part is an analysis of the cross-border drama: The Golden Light Baggy Drama "The Legend of the Archer Hero".This article mainly analyzes the "Legend of the Archer Hero" from three aspects: the comparison between traditional and Golden light hand-puppet show,the remodeling of characters,the arrangement of stories,and the performance of drama,to help readers understand its particularity.The seventh part is the conclusion,emphasizing the argument of this article and affirming the value and significance of the dramatic adaptation of Louis Cha’s novels.This article expounds the techniques and characteristics of the adaptation of Louis Cha’s novels and plays discovered during the process of argumentation,and derives the rules that can be followed in the adaptation of martial arts novels.Through a comparative analysis of Louis Cha’s novels and dramatic adaptation works,this paper summarizes certain experiences and lessons in order to make up for some shortcomings in the study of Louis Cha’s novels’ drama and adaptation. |
