| Chu bird seal script is a popular decorative font based on seal script during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, with bird shaped patterns as the glyph. It mostly appears in the form of inscriptions on the decoration of weapons, ritual vessels, musical instruments, and other instruments. It is determined that the artistry of bird seal writing outweighs its functionality.Due to the difficulty in identifying the font, the bird seal script,as an ancient civilization, gradually faded out of people’s vision.Based on the theory of deconstruction and reconstruction, this research analyzes the historical connotation and stroke characteristics of the Chu style bird seal script, explores both recognizable and decorative bird seal script fonts, and explores experimental research on easily recognizable bird seal script decorative fonts, using modern Chinese character radicals as a comparison.Since 1982,simplified Chinese characters have become the mainstream font in people’s lives and information dissemination. This study is based on the deconstruction and reconstruction theory.Firstly,it clarifies the historical connotation of bird seal writing, and at the same time,it deconstructs and reconstructs its font strokes based on the style and rules of bird seal writing;Secondly, explore the experimental design of bird seal character fonts for visual recognition; Finally,it proposes a method for the decorative font design of bird seal characters, and designs easily recognizable simplified characters of bird seal characters, which can be recreated using the visual design language of the new era.It is important to study the bird seal script in order to protect the ancient script, while injecting new forms of expression into the Chu style bird seal script to meet the needs of modern font development. This is a new exploration of ancient script, aimed at bringing the disappearing bird seal script back to the public eye. |
