A Study On The Humorous Language Style Of Wang Shuo’s Novels

The language of Wang Shuo’s novels is very humorous.Under the guidance of linguistic theory,this paper takes 31 novels of Wang Shuo before the transformation of his writing style as the research object,based on a comprehensive reading of Wang Shuo’s novels and a large collection of language materials,combined with vocabulary,grammar,and rhetoric theories,analyzes the various humorous style means used in the novels from three aspects of vocabulary,grammar and rhetoric.The article consists of four chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the humorous features of Wang Shuo’s novels,and explains the humorous discourse expression and the mechanism of generating the humorous effect of Wang Shuo’s novels.The second,third,and fourth chapters are the essential of the thesis,which analyzes and describes the humorous language style embodied by specific language means and elements at the lexical,grammatical and rhetorical levels.In terms of vocabulary,Wang Shuo’s main means of humor expression are the massive use of Beijing dialect words,common sayings and vulgar swearing words.In terms of grammar,Wang Shuo often breaks through the language convention and uses the words in the sentence with unusual collocation,punctuation and coordinate structure.In rhetoric,Wang Shuo used metaphors and quoted figures of speech in a novel way to make the language expression show a dynamic and humorous scene.On the whole,from the perspective of linguistics,the paper analyzes the typical humorous examples in Wang Shuo’s novels,and demonstrates the humorous language style of Wang Shuo’s novels.
