| In recent years, relapse tendency of drug users has been the focus of research in the field of addiction.Drug addiction can cause serious harm to individuals, families and society.Research shows that stigma and relapse are two major obstacles for drug users to return to society, and there is a relationship between them. However, there are few researches on the relationship between them, and even less researches on the influencing mechanism between them.Depression is a common emotion among drug users and has an important impact on continued drug use.Previous studies have shown that self-compassion can effectively reduce people’s depression and improve their happiness. In view of this, this study aims to explore the influence of stigma on drug users’ tendency to relapse and the role of depression and self-compassion in this.According to Corrigan’s progressive model of self-stigma,self-stigma comes from drug users’ recognition of public stigma such as discrimination, misunderstanding and lack of support from the public, which leads to negative emotions, decreased self-esteem,and decreased sense of self-efficacy,which will hinder their return to society. So when we look at stigma we take into account both the public stigma from the outside and the self-stigma of drug users. In study 1,34 active workers were surveyed by the public Stigma Scale, the Rehabilitation Support Intention Scale and the Single Category Implicit Association Test(SC-IAT).We expect to explore the status of public stigma against drug users in the current domestic social environment and the impact of public stigma on rehabilitation support intention. The results show that:(1)There are implicit and explicit public stigmatizing attitudes towards drug users;(2)There is no significant correlation between implicit stigma and explicit stigma;(3)Implicit stigma negatively predicted the rehabilitation support intention. In study 2,190 drug abusers in a drug rehabilitation center in Zhejiang Province were surveyed by perceived stigma scale,self-stigma scale, depression scale,self-compassion questionnaire and relapse tendency scale. The same group of drug abusers were followed up 3 months later. The results showed that:(1)The positive correlation between internalized stigma and relapse tendency is significance;(2)Depression completely mediates the relationship between internalized stigma and relapse tendency;(3)Self-compassion plays a moderating role in the relationship between internalized stigma and depression, and internalized stigma among low self-compassionate drug users positively predicted depression levels;(4)Follow-up studies have shown that internalized stigma is a cause and effect of depression, and depression is a cause and effect of relapse. This study shows that implicit stigma on drug users can significantly reduce the public’s intention to support drug users in rehabilitation; The internalized stigma of drug users can indirectly influence their tendency to relapse through depression. The promoting effect of internalized stigma on depression was significant in the low self-compassion group, but not in the high self-compassion group. |
