Drug abuse is one of the severe problems of concern nowadays. The negative consequences caused by drug abuse fall into four categories: 1) it has drug addicts suffering heavily from physical and psychological impairments; 2) it forces lots of afflictions on the addicts' families and the social network related to them; 3) crimes related to drug abuse are among the dangerous resources that are harmful to our society; 4) crimes related to drug abuse are accountable for many severe social problems.This study investigated the various factors affecting the mental health and the relapse into drug abuse behaviors of the addicts. 300 male addicts in one Rehabilitation Center(Shanghai) served as participants. Mental health Survey of Drug Rehabilitated Addicts and Inclination of Relapse Questionnaire of Drug Rehabilitated Addicts were administered. The main results are as follows:1. Five factors are accountable for the inclination of relapse into drugs of the male addicts: self-reported confidence of rehabilitation, current influence of drugs, physical environment of preventing relapse, physical and psychological impairments and supporting system.2. Five psychological resources are necessary for the addicts to be abstinent from drugs and to live with hope again: awareness of the negative aspects of drugs, rational expectation of family life and work, correct attitude toward the returning to the society, courage for a new life and correct ideas of life.
