To study the effect of biochar on the formation and yield of melon seedlings,The experiment was conducted from April to July in 2021.Pot experiment was conducted with vegetable seedling soil as culture substrate and corn stalk biochar as experimental treatment.Five treatments were set up,namely, the biochar content accounted for 0g·kg-1(set as CK),10g·kg-1(set as T1),20g·kg-1(set as T2),40g·kg-1(set as T3)and 80g·kg-1(set as T4),and each treatment was repeated for 4 times.Through the analysis of morphology,Physiological and biochemical indexes and yield composition indexes of muskmelon seedlings, the effects on seedling morphogenesis, material accumulation, physiological and biochemical characteristics and even yield formation were discussed. The study of this experiment will lay physiological and theoretical basis for the cultivation of strong melon seedlings, which is of great significance to ensure high yield and high quality production of melon. The test results are as follows:1.Different supplemental levels of biochar can improve the root surface area of melon, and T3,which means that biochar content accounts for 40g·kg-1 of air-dried soil, has the best effect.Compared with CK,the specific root surface, percentage of active absorption area, active absorption area, total root absorption area and root volume increased by 15.76%,22.56%,71.82%,40.19%and 21.07%,respectively.2.Different supplemental levels of biochar could improve the quality of muskmelon seedlings, and T3,biochar content accounted for 40g·kg-1 of air-dried soil, had the best effect.25 d after emergence, leaf area, stem diameter and plant height increased by 33.91%,31.71%and 34.87%compared with CK,respectively.Compared with CK,seedling index, root shoot ratio, whole plant fresh weight and dry weight increased by 43.33%,64.94%,31.92%and 45.10%,respectively.3.Different supplemental levels of biochar can improve the physiological characteristics of melon root, and the application effect of T3,biochar content of 40g·kg-1 in air-dried soil,is the best.Compared with CK,root vigor, content of nitrate-nitrogen,content of soluble sugars and soluble proteins, nitrate reductase activity, catalase activity, peroxidase activity, superoxide dismutase activity, ascorbate peroxidase activity, polyphenol oxidase activitywere increased by 20.88%,5.70%,61.73%,80.69%,126.67%,10.47%,23.42%,31.58%and 54.21%,62.88%,respectively.4.Different supplemental levels of biochar can improve the physiological characteristics of melon leaves, and the application effect of T3 is the best, that is,the biochar content accounts for 40g·kg-1 of air-dried soil.Compared with CK,chlorophyll content, nitrate nitrogen content, nitrate reductase activity, catalase activity, peroxidase activity, superoxide dismutase activity, ascorbate peroxidase activity, polyphenol oxidase activity, soluble sugar content and soluble protein content in leaves were increased by 6.89%,4.61%,25.32%,18.61%,30.87%,38.71%,60.40%,35.80%and 61.73%,69.95%,respectively.5.Different supplemental levels of biochar could improve the yield of melon, and the application effect of T3,biochar content accounting for 40g·kg-1 of air-dried soil was the best, and the fruit diameter, longitudinal diameter, single fruit weight and hectare yield were increased by 31.37%,24.73%,67.87%and 68.06%,respectively,compared with CK.6.Different supplemental levels of biochar could improve soil physical properties.T4,which means biochar content accounted for 80g·kg-1 of air-dried soil, had the best application effect, and increased soil p H and water content by 1.86%and 3.16%compared with CK,respectively.Compared with CK(0g·kg-1),soil bulk density was decreased by 5.93%.
