The Influence Of Parental Meta-emotion Philosophy On Peer Relationship In Elementary School Children:The Mediating Role Of Children’s Emotion Regulation

Abstract/Summary:
Peer relationship is an important way for children to socialize.Good peer relationship can help children form a positive and optimistic attitude,while bad peer relationship can easily make children treat life more negatively.Long-term bad peer relationship will have negative impacts on children’s mental health and other aspects.The development of children’s peer relationship is affected by various factors.Studies have shown that parents play an important role in the formation and development of their peer relationship and emotional regulation.The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between parents’ meta-emotional concept and children’s peer relationship and the mediating role of children’s emotional regulation.In this study,650 primary school students from grade one to grade three were measured by questionnaire survey,and 586 valid questionnaires.At the same time,6 parent-child semi-structured interviews were selected from the respondents of the questionnaire survey.To explore the relationship between parental meta-emotion philosophy,children’s emotional regulation and peer relationship.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Gender,grades and only-child were the influence factors of children’s peer relationship.Grades and only-child were the influence factors of children’s emotional regulation,but there were little significant differences in gender variables.(2)The four types of mather’s meta-emotional concept have significant differences in their own educational level;In terms of grade variables,there are significant differences in the mather’s emotion-coaching,emotion-dismissing and emotion-dysfunction.There were significant differences among the four types of maternal meta-emotional in whether children are the only child or not.There was no significant difference in gender among the four types of mather meta-emotional.(3)The four types of father’s meta-emotional concept have significant differences in their own educational level;In terms of children grade variables,there are significant differences in the father’s emotion-dismissing and emotion-dysfunction.In terms of the variables of only-child or not,there are significant differences in the father’s emotion-coaching and emotion-dismissing.There was no significant difference in gender among the four types of father meta-emotional.(4)There was a significant positive correlation between mother’s emotion-coaching and children’s peer relationship and emotional regulation;mother’s emotion-noninvolvement and emotion-dysfunction were negatively correlated with children’s peer relationship and emotional regulation,respectively.There was a significant positive correlation between father’s emotional-coaching and children’s peer relationship and emotional regulation.There was a significant negative correlation between the father’s emotional-noninvolvement and children’s peer relationship and emotional regulation.(5)The regulation of children’s emotion plays a part of mediating role between the Paternal emotion-coaching and children’s peer friendship;The regulation of children’s emotion plays a completely mediating role in the mother’s emotional-noninvolvement,mother’s emotional-control,father’s emotional-noninvolvement and children’s peer relationship.
