| The language skills of listening,speaking,reading,and writing are an important part of students’ English language application ability.Among them,listening and reading are comprehension skills,and speaking and writing are expression skills.English writing is one of the most important ways for students to apply their language knowledge to English output comprehensively.Pupils’ English writing is the first and important step of using the English language rules,trying to understand and using English thinking to express in written form.Errors appeared in pupils’ English writing can partly represent their defective aspects in the comprehensive ability to use language,and it is also important for teachers to improve English teaching and for students to improve in English learning.Guided by the theory of error analysis,this study collected the English writing of the final exam of senior grades’(5 and 6)students in S primary school in Jinan.By using literature analysis,content analysis and interview method,and other research methods,in-depth understanding and analyzing of common errors in students’ English writing of these senior grades,and the reasons for these errors,it also puts forward some teaching strategies to reduce mistakes in students’ English writing.Through combing and analyzing relevant literature,interviewing senior grades’ students and their English teachers,constructing the evaluation standard of English writing for pupils,and making statistics and analysis of mistakes in students’ English writing,the following conclusions are drawn in this study:(1)There are three main types of common errors in pupils’ English writing: content errors,language errors and punctuation errors,among which content errors mainly include deviation from the theme and incomplete writing content;Language errors mainly include lexical errors and grammatical errors.Lexical errors mainly include lexical format errors,lexical spelling errors and choosing errors.Grammatical errors mainly include verb tense variation errors,noun singular and plural errors,preposition errors,subject-verb inconsistency and Chinese word order.(2)The causes of errors in pupils’ English writing are the language reason,the teaching reason,and the differences among students,among which the language reason has interlingual and intralingual reasons,the teaching reason has writing teaching mistake and lack of training,writing strategy are emphasized insufficiency and the lack linkage among writing teaching,grammar teaching,and vocabulary teaching;The main reasons for the individual differences of students are the differences in English learning ability and individual physical and mental qualities.(3)The causes of pupils’ English writing errors are identified.Teachers should make improvements in English teaching from the following aspects: emphasizing interlingual and intralingual factors in English learning and guiding students to use language rules correctly;Attach importance to the teaching and training of English writing in primary schools,consolidate the knowledge and ability foundation of English writing;Pay attention to the individual differences of pupils’ English learning and teach them according to their different English writing levels. |
