The Study Of Yrj(?) Sep(?)nmaa’s Environmental Aesthetics Model

Since the 20th century,the worldwide environmental crisis has caused people to rethink the relationship between human and nature.The rise of environmental aesthetics is the expression of such thinking in the field of aesthetics.The construction of environmental aesthetics has two completely different ideas:theoretical construction and practical construction.Yrjo Sepanmaa is one of the important representatives of environmental aesthetics.The model of environmental aesthetics constructed by him builds a bridge between environmental aesthetics theory and practice.This paper takes the construction of the model as a clue and discusses the construction process of it in detail from "origin","construction stage"and "value and deficiency" through which the vertical perspective and horizontal perspective is combined.From a vertical point of view,Sep(?)nmaa has been studying environmental aesthetics since the 1970s.The Beauty of Environment:A general model for environmental aesthetics,first published in 1986,was directly influenced by Carlson’s scientific cognitive theory.With the research methods of analytical aesthetics and the ideological resources of the return of natural aesthetics,it realizes a systematic and theoretical summary of the previous research results.From three perspectives of ontology,meta-criticism and application prospect,Sep(?)nmaa has answered three questions:"What is the essential characteristic of environment as an aesthetic object","how is the environment spoken" and "where is the environmental aesthetic model needed”,introduced criticism into the field of environment,and preliminarily completed the construction of the model.During 1986-2005,Sep(?)nmaa developed and perfected the model in the face of changing environmental aesthetic practices.From the perspective of ontology,he considered the relationship between human and nature,people and city,combined the objective cognition with multi-sensory aesthetic experience,and promoted the development of environmental aesthetics from aesthetics to ethics.At the same time,the analogy model for environmental criticism is developed,which increases the dynamic vitality of the model.Since 2006,Sep(?)nmaa has focused on the identity and responsibilities of environmental aestheticians.In the stage of application and practice,environmental aestheticians need to prove the aesthetic value of environment to decision-makers,executors and audiences in the name of beauty,so as to realize the expansion and deepening of the model.From the perspective of horizontal view,in the process of constructing environmental aesthetics model,Sep(?)nmaa ’s specific analysis method inevitably has the disadvantages of analytical aesthetics logical thinking mode.As a whole,the model established a system of interrelated theory and practice of environmental aesthetics,at the same time for the construction of the development of environmental aesthetics provides a unique way of thinking.As a dynamic model,it plays an important role in the field of environmental aesthetics.With the development of environmental aesthetics practice,the theory of Sep(?)nmaa’s model becomes stronger,which is exactly the charm of such dynamic model.
