Research On Kon Satoshi’s Animation Art

As the most representative Japanese animation director in the 20 th century,Kon Satoshi innovated the narrative mode of animation works and broke the traditional narrative mode.His plots are complicated and his expression is magical and warm.In his short career,he has directed four films,one animation,and one short film,namely,Perfect Blue,Paprika,Millennium actress,Tokyo Godfather,Mousou dairinin and Ohayo.Although he only directed six works,his unique artistic style and high quality of creation have influenced artists around the world.Taking the modern Society of Japan as the background of his creation,he analyzed the spiritual condition of modern urbanites suffering from alienation,revealed the common social problems in contemporary society and people’s survival dilemma.His animation works tell the story of urban social crowd falling into illusion and struggling under the double pressure of work and society in the period of rapid economic development.While creating visual wonders,it also discloses the danger of illusory things and gives warning and enlightenment to modern social groups.This thesis consists of an introduction,four chapters and a conclusion,from the narrative core to the artistic ontology,in-depth study of Kon Satoshi animation works.The introduction mainly introduces the background,research purpose and innovation of this thesis,and reviews the research status at home and abroad related to this topic.The first chapter summarizes the dilemmas faced by urban men and women in modern society and shows their different solutions.They suffer from spiritual emptiness,the dilemma of identity and the attachment or fear of illusion.They experience confusion and confusion when facing the dilemma,but finally choose to face the reality and save themselves with difficulty.The second chapter analyzes the characters in the film from the perspective of psychology,showing the influence of the social system dominated by the patriarchal society on the urban population.Kon Satoshi depicts the status quo of women being objectified and stared at under the influence of patriarchal culture,and endows them with the courage to resist.Men,on the other hand,fall off the pedestal of power and appear as a weak and incomplete image,wearing personality masks to integrate into society.The third chapter analyzes the narrative characteristics of Kon Satoshi’s animation works and explains Kon Satoshi’s unique narrative techniques in the performance of characters’ mental state.Narrative space reveals the spiritual world of characters and the social factors that cause spiritual alienation.Narrative time appears in a broken and staggered form,which shows the mental disorder of the animation characters.The narrative structure adopts linear and nested narrative structure to penetrate into the inner world of characters to the maximum extent.Chapter four analyzes the audio-visual elements of Kon Satoshi’s animation works.Focusing on the stylization and particularity of modeling elements,it expresses the theme connotation,depicts the psychology of characters and renders the scene atmosphere.Sound language analyzes the distinctive human voice,the music that renders the scene atmosphere,and the expressive sound to expand the screen space and promote the specific expression of the film narrative.The conclusion part summarizes the creation of Kon Satoshi’s animation works,makes clear the innovation of its artistic expression form,and hopes that Chinese animation works can get out of the creation dilemma and bring forth the new.
