The translation practice is based on Chapter Four of In the Aftermath of the Pandemic:Interpersonal Psychotherapy ofA nxiety,Depression, and PTSD written by Dr.John C.Markowitz.The topic of the selected chapter is "Life Crises:Grief,Role Disputes, and Role Transitions",which introduces the treatment principles of interpersonal psychotherapy in detail with life crises as the starting point and provides a new method for psychological treatment in the post-epidemic era.The translation practice report includes four parts:translation task description, translation process description, translation case analysis and summary. The first part introduces the source of the translation materials, the author’s background, the content of this book and the significance of the discussion. The second part describes the translation process from three aspects:pre-translation preparation, difficulties in translation practice, revision and improvement. As the core of this report, based on Newmark’s Text Typology theory, the third part analyses the selected materials with Communicative Translation and Semantic Translation strategies from four aspects, namely, vocabulary, sentence, discourse, and punctuation. This practice makes an indepth analysis of difficulties in translation practice by taking case analysis and manages to solve these difficulties through the flexible use of translation techniques such as lexical conversion, extension of lexical meaning and adjustment of sentence order. Finally, the fourth part summarizes the gains of the present author and the limitations of this translation practice. It is hoped that this practice can be of some use to the popularization and development of psychotherapy in China in the post-epidemic era and to provide some reference for other English-Chinese translation practices in the field of psychology and other related branches of studies. |
